Abuela
Title: Abuela
Author: Arthur Dorros
Illustrator: Elisa Kleven
Publisher: Scholastic
www.scholastic.com
Publication Date: 1991
Genre: Picture Book, Adventure
Audience: All
Overview: This book is about a young girl and her Spanish speaking grandmother's adventure. Some of the words in the book are Spanish but defined soon after in the next sentence. The girl and her abuela talk about what they see and do while they are flying over the city. The colors are very bright and cheery, adding excitement after every page turn.
Activity: This book could be used for any student learning spanish because of the use of spanish words throughout the story. A teacher can also make a writing prompt and have students write about what they would see if they flew over their town.
