Genre: Picture Book
Audience: Prek - 2nd
Overview: A little girl (who's favorite color is pink) is stuck inside on a rainy day. Her mom asks for her help in making cupcakes, and of course when her mother asks what color icing they should use, the little girl chooses pink. She eats so many pink cupcakes that she wakes up the next morning and her entire body is the color pink. Her mother takes her to the pediatrician and he gives them the advice of eating green foods to make her color turn back to normal. The little girl is having too much fun being pink and ignores the the doctor's advice. Despite what her parents tell her, that night she sneaks more pink cupcakes. The next morning the little girl wakes up and her skin is red! She is in such a panic that she remembers the doctor's advice and eats everything in her house that is the color green. She finally turns back to her normal skin color.
Activity: I think this would be a good idea for an art project. The students can use their favorite color and combine it with another word. Ex: Redilicious, bluependous, orangetastic, etc. They can then make a cover page for their own story and even write a story if they like. It's a good way to express their own favorite colors.
