King Bob's New Clothes

Title: King Bob’s New Clothes

Author: Dom Deluise

Illustrator: Christopher Santoro

Publisher: Aladdin Picture Books

Publication Date: November 1999

Genre: Picture Book, Fable

Audience: Gr. PreK-2

Overview: This spin on the age-old tale of “The Emperor’s New Clothes” tells the story of the very vain King Bob. When two sneaky men come to town and promise him a glorious outfit, King Bob is thrilled. But things take a turn for the worse when King Bob parades his new outfit around town and realizes that he is wearing nothing at all.

Activity: An activity to go along with this story could be an art project. Have students create their own unique outfit using all sorts of different materials including silk, glitter, crayons, markers, and other bits of fabric.
