Overview: The two main characters, Gilbert and Lola, are excited to participate in an Easter egg hunt when their cousin, Wally, comes to visit. The two quickly learn that their cousin has quite the competitive edge when it comes to winning the hunt, and is willing to play unfairly to achieve the big prize at the end. However, Wally does the right thing in the end.
Activity: Since this book is set around an Easter egg hunt, this would be an appropriate book for spring time and an egg hunt could then be set up in the classroom. This would also be a good book to introduce polite manners to young children and not to take fun competitions too seriously, especially to the point where someone's feelings might get hurt. The students could role play what would happen in this situation and ways to address it.
